The discussion and debate in the church over the relationship between men and women and their roles in family, church, and society was renewed and reenergized in the 2008 presidential campaign when Sen. John McCain chose Gov. Sarah Palin, a married woman and mother of five children, to be his running mate and candidate for the office of vice president of the United States.
